چکیده

Intelligence test scores can account for achievement differences in many content areas to a considerable extent. An individual’s IQ results from complex interactions between genes and environmental stimulation, foremost schooling. The amount of variance in intelligence to be explained by genes is the higher the more successful a society is in providing cognitively stimulating environments for everybody. Intelligence can be understood as a start-up resource of information processing which has to be invested in knowledge in order to enable competencies in a domain. Teacher’s professional competencies have a major impact on how learners exploit their intelligence for learning particular subjects.

Efficient Cross-Domain Learning of Complex Skills

Building an intelligent agent that simulates human learning of math and science could potentially benefit both education, by contributing to the understanding of human learning, and artificial intelligence, by advancing the goal of creating human-level intelligence. However, constructing such a learning agent currently requires significant manual encoding of prior domain knowledge; in addition ...

Efficient Complex Skill Acquisition Through Representation Learning

One of the fundamental goals of artificial intelligence is to understand and develop intelligent agents that simulate human-level intelligence. A lot of effort has been made to develop intelligent agents that simulate human learning of math and science, e.g., for use in cognitive tutors. However, constructing such a learning agent currently requires manual encoding of prior domain knowledge for...

ILA: Combining Inductive Learning with Prior Knowledge and Reasoning

Much effort has been devoted to understanding learning and reasoning in artificial intelligence. However, very few models attempt to integrate these two complementary processes. Rather, there is a vast body of research in machine learning, often focusing on inductive learning from examples, quite isolated from the work on reasoning in artificial intelligence. Though these two processes may be d...

On Integrating Inductive Learning with Prior Knowledge and Reasoning

Learning and reasoning are both aspects of what is considered to be intelligence. Their studies within AI have been separated historically, learning being the topic of neural networks and machine learning, and reasoning falling under classical (or symbolic) AI. However, learning and reasoning share many interdependencies, and the integration of the two may lead to more powerful models. This dis...
